Looks like school is finally starting to catch up with me. I have far, far too many things to do this month, so I'm not a happy hippo.

I'm usually a happy hippo. FYI.

Regardless of impending due dates, presentation dates, and midterms, I'm still here... still blithering on about useless stray thoughts that happen to wander across the tracks of my speeding train of thought.

Wow. That was brilliant.

Moving on, what else is new? The highlight of my day was when I detoured from my usual commute home and bought some pens.

Yippee.

Other than that... I feel like twelve different kinds of shit.

That about sums it all up. I'm getting a violent urge to knit now, so I'm going to go do that. Wheeee.

Scarf!

That's the news I have today--I've started to knit a scarf.

It's not even news... more like toxic fumes being released into the air.

Nevertheless, I'm releasing them, because I'm still avoiding my homework.

The scarf is pretty. It's soft and squishy, and it's a dark, charcoal grey. I'm trying to make one of those infinity scarves, but we'll see what happens. Last time I attempted to knit something other than a simple rectangular scarf, disaster ensued (*cough* failed attempt at hat).

Let's hope for the best.

Today, I have absolutely nothing good to say. The only reason I've clicked on the "new post" button on this fine day is because I'm avoiding my homework like a whiny little middle schooler, and I wanted to give my fingers something to do.

As I sit here, and look around at my disgustingly cluttered (but homey!) room and desk, I again wonder why I'm not doing anything more productive than talking to myself via the Internet.

So, here I am, at the end of yet another long and tiring week. Good news: it's the weekend. Bad news: I think I'm developing an aversion to coffee, and considering the amount of caffeine I need to merely stay alive, this can't possibly be good.

I guess there's more good news... I get to see my wifey tomorrow... (for those unfamiliar with the wifey situation, screw you all, she's my bestie for life and we're totally married and stuff)
We'll shop and giggle and snort and yay, because that is what we do.

What else is good... Ah! I happened upon a 1.1 kg bag of jellybeans today, which was a pleasant surprise, I guess... It helped me get through my later class, which is always nice... Not that I ate them all, or anything. That'd have to be a new low for me...

I don't have a tonne to say, either. I was just chilling, watching Zoboomafoo, and I opened my laptop to find my blog. My recently rediscovered blog. Ahh... It feels good to be talking to myself via the Interwebs again.

Digression: this episode of Zoboomafoo is fantastic. Kinkajous and koatis are unbelievably awesome.

Digression from my digression: Ginger (my little girl cat) has hopped up next to me and is purring rather loudly. I think she wants to sit on my lap. Conflict: my laptop is currently sitting on my lap.

Digression from the second digression, returning to the first digression: Zoboo just said he had a "beary" great day, and the episode was about bears. Oh man. This is fantastic.

I'm glad I decided to do this. Long story short, my schedule this semester is kind of crap, because on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I need to be at school at 8:30. With transit, however, I have to wake up at 5 in order to make it to school on time. After an hour or two of class, I just come home for a few hours, because my next class is at 4:30. This means twice the commuting, but I get to come home and kick back with my kittens for awhile. Yeah. It kind of sucks, but if I want to major in French, I need to get all my lower-division courses done this semester, so I can proceed unhindered into my upper-level courses in the fall.
Blah blah blah, school technicalities. Terribly interesting, I know.

Oh man, Ultimate Cake Off is on, and just listening to these bakers try and bad-mouth each other is hilarious. They can't do it. So funny.

Digression back to the second digression: Ginger has now taken over half of my lap, while my laptop occupies the other half. A worthy concession.

Back to reality: not much more is happening. I need to head back to school in about 40 minutes, and I'm trying to warm up a bit before venturing back out into the frigid cold.

I guess I'll leave off here, as I never really started saying anything interesting at all.

News of the day: I'm bored! Haha, it's like nothing's changed.

Ah, but it has, and that is why I'm posting this 2nd post of the day/year.

I just spent the better part of the last hour re-reading all my old posts, and I'm rather surprised by what I found. I've become a better person (oh, shut up, let me be cheesy this one time).

Seriously. I'm not as greedy or selfish, I'm more eloquent, more literate, more educated, more involved and aware. Overall, morally, I'm on the path I've always wanted to follow, I just had a little trouble finding the trailhead. Sure, I swear more, and drink more, and curse more young folk, but I've improved beyond what I thought was possible, and for that, I'm proud of myself. Having started this blog almost 5 years ago has offered me an opportunity to put my later life in perspective, and I'm grateful to have updated in the past and offered snapshots of my life, albeit sporadic ones.

*wipes a tear*

Alrighty, sentimental moment over. Time to swear, curse, and maybe sneak some sleep in tonight.

I bid thee all farewell, with the promise (hopefully) that I'll update more this year than last year (not that I'd be improving on much: 0 posts in 2011).

...I'm back! Astounding, I know.
Let's do this properly--I am a failed blogger. Alas, it's true. I can't keep up with this thing, nor can it keep up with me. For this, I offer my sincerest apologies.
Other than that, I've been busy having super-fun and doing the super-studying, so that's probably why I haven't felt more inclined to keep this up.
Also, the tab that had my blog open was buried behind approximately 80 other tabs and my Firefox wasn't very pleased with me. Yesterday, I closed about 70 of them. Now I have a happy Firefox :) and I've rediscovered my blog! Bonus!
I do keep up with my Twitter, though. If you can't get enough of ...this... then why not follow me: @Rio_mwahaha.
It may just be worth it.

In other news, nothing much/major has happened since the last time I posted... I actually can't remember the last time I posted... I think it was after I got kittens, started uni, etc.
I guess the only major thing that happened was my, for lack of a better word, "coming of age", along with which comes the allowance to drink in licensed establishments. This was nearly a year ago, so since then I've developed a fondness for the wondrous gin and tonic.
I've also become terribly pretentious.

I survived my first semester at university! And I'm still in one piece! :D
Amazing, I know :P

Uni is such a great place. I can't even start. Everyone is paying exorbitant fees, so we all want to be there, and we're all passionate about what we're learning, and this makes it enjoyable for everyone :)
A million times better than highschool, hands down.
And I've made new friends! *littlekidsquee* Whee! I feel so speshul! :3
It's funny, really. The older you get, and the further into your education, the more you regress into an infantile state.
In English, the harder courses equal stressed Rio which means Cray Cray Rio that acts like a 5 year old :)

And I discovered so many new and wonderful things in the past few months.
Firstly, the hot chocolate at my campus is AMAZING! I can't even begin to describe the amazingness. Oh wait, I just did. Well, I'm not going to finish describing it.
Second, there is a FANTABULOUS restaurant thing that serves VEGAN food and they have SOY macaroni and cheese and it makes me HAPPY like HAPPY HIPPOS. For serious.
Third, transit is mostly good. It has its pms-ey days, but overall has been reliable, but also reliably frustrating :)
Fourth, apparently I'm an amazing person. :) Yee! People tell me this. I'm not sure I believe them. But it's nice to hear :3
Fifth, fifes are fiddly, especially Finnish fifes from the fifties.
Sixth, I enjoy alliteration.
Seventh, I realized I am running out of interesting things to say.
Eighth, I realized that I forgot to mention that I saw Calvin Harris and it was MADly awesome.
Ninth, I discovered that long lists can be quite tedious, and so I'll stop here :)

So not much has happened since that amazing awesomeness a week ago (refer to previous post), so I don't have much to recap. Hung out a bit, ate a bit, slept even less... you know, the usual.
This past weekend flew by in a haze of reading. I read the entire Percy Jackson & The Olympians series, which, even though it's meant for younger readers, I still enjoyed. Very much. Don't judge me. I also watched the movie. Pretty good. Am v. pleased.
Today, since I finished the epic readathon this morning, I cleaned some of my room. Now, for those who don't know me personally, this is indeed a challenge worthy of the gods.
So I took it on. No big deal, right?
Wrong. So very, very wrong.
I worked for 4 hours straight. And there's no difference. The piles are shaped differently and I got rid of an entire bucket of garbage and recycling, but there's no difference in the grand schema of the room.

So, a couple weeks ago, I was trying to, erm, adjust my new $2 Old Navy flip flops. This was because they had this annoying peace sign thing on them that hurt my toes when I walked around. Naturally, being an artist, I felt I could take matters into my own hands and solve this problem myself. What did I do? I took a knife and started carving away at said peace sign, with absolutely no previous experience carving. The result? A mangled peace sign and a stabbed thumb. Yes. I would stab my thumb trying to alter my shoes.
Anyways, the reason I mention this is because my thumb is sore today. It was fine for awhile once the wound healed, but yesterday I aggravated it by carrying a tent. Now the joint on my thumb is sore. This wouldn't be such a problem if I didn't text everyone and update my blog today with my phone. Haha. Sometimes life's a bitch, isn't it?

You know, listening to "Rollin' and Scratchin'" by Daft Punk is having a curious effect on my body. I haven't blinked for awhile, I haven't looked away from the computer screen, and I have to think about breathing.
But this song is still pretty damn epic. It's like nothing. But the nothing is on crack. It's faboo.
I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I'm just sitting at my computer, staring at the screen, and I really don't know what's going on. I know there's something substantial that I could be doing, but for some reason I've forgotten what it is. Or I don't care. Now, that's more like it.
I'm staring at a cup of water now. How fascinating.
Maybe I should clean up my files so I can sell this computer next week. Hmm...
I'm kind of sad. I don't really want to part with my dear Lafayette, but alas, the times have changed, and aluminum unibody casing is just better for university. Poo.

Today's been a very uneventful day. I cleaned everything, made dinner, did laundry, etc. The highlight of my day was when my brother came home with an apple fritter. Mmm. 95%
Yesterday I got everything by Minus the Bear, an indie band from Seattle. They are amazing. Their newest album, Omni, opens up with this fantastic song that I can't get out of my head. It's called "My Time", and it makes my life. I really love how chill their music is, and how it changes the temperature of the room when it's on. Still 95%

So, the year from hell has finally ended (a couple weeks ago, haha) and I remembered that I have a blog. Hah. So here I am.
I don't really know what to say. I'm currently bouncing around to a new collection of Daft Punk music and am very happy.
Also, still the prettiest.
Erm, concert update... Saw U2 last October. Nothing short of amazing. Saw Muse in April. Holy God they can put on a show. Saw Owl City the day after that. Kinda paled in comparison, but still happy. :)
What else... oh yeah :3 I'm busy prepping for university in the fall. Yes, I survived the year from hell and am now onto the next stage of my life. Mwahaha. The school won't know what hit it >:D

Last post I mentioned the Franz Ferdinand concert... which was ABSO-FRICKIN-LUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! :D :D :D It was one of the most incredible experiences of my teenage existence. I also saw the Arctic Monkeys since then, which was a PRETTY AWESOME show, but kinda violent and they didn't have the same energy as Franz Ferdinand. STILL GREAT THOUGH.

And I've gotten more into some other bands. I'm checking out more Billy Talent and Muse, as well as Keane and Owl City. Oh, and Cage the Elephant. I'm sure there are others, but I'm a tad brain-fried from my homework and can barely type.

So, yesterday my wonderful braces were tightened to a point beyond infinity.

If that made absolutely no sense at all, it might be because my brains have been scrambled by the forces of the infinite universe of brace-tightening.

I've been reduced to a diet of milk, water and slurpees. Oh joy. Although, I am going to try eating Greek food tonight... it calls to me... I will bear the pain and suffering of my teeth while tantalizing my taste buds.

Cos I just tried painting that long and believe me, it's not that great.
And by not that great, I mean pretty bad.
And by pretty bad, I mean horrifically awful.
BUT I MUST PERSEVERE!!! For the world depends on me painting a giant concrete pillar... ok, maybe not.
But we might get in a magazine. Which would be cool.
Other than that, these past few days have been pretty busy. Painting Monday, tag-along to work on Tuesday, visit to a little fishing town Wednesday... And tomorrow we have relatives coming over.

HaHA! I am updating again! I suppose I shall tell you all about the wondrous Green Day concert I went to last night :D
WELL, first I went shopping all day then by 7:00 we were at the venue. The show was awesome. The Bravery opened up and I think I've found my new best-friend-band. They sound almost like old U2, only a little harder. I find that appealing :D
Then Green Day came on, and blew everyone away. Literally. It was the 4th of July, right? So of course they were celebrating with fireworks and fire and confetti and explosions.
It was fabulous.
It was loud.
I loved it SO FREAKING MUCH!!!!

I'm ok.

But I'm already STOKED for the TRAGICALLY HIP NEXT MONTH!!! I can't wait. It's gonna be awesome. Oh my God. I need to stop.

Even though I'm still doing crap at school (it got out 3 weeks ago) I am now (mostly) free to do whatever (not really) I damn well please (lies, all lies)!!!
I feel an update on my life would be irrelevant, so here it is :D :
- went to some concerts (54-40 and the Blue Violets, Rise Against and Rancid and the Riverboat Gamblers, going to Green Day tomorrow)
- did some homework (fo rilz)
- painted some concrete pillars
- did some stuff
- the usual (eat, drink, sleep, etc.)

Now that that's over and done with, I feel much better about everything. Now I am hungry, so I will eat.

Ok, it's been forever. Is that so bad? I've been SWAMPED crazy. School, art, and all these books and shows I've been finding on the Internet... I've been neglecting my poor Blog.

Well, let's fill us in. It's New Year's Day 2009. The start of a new year. I haven't posted since September... so what's happened since then?
I got rid of my crap Vista computer and now am running on a spiffin' new MacBook. I loves it. I named him Lafayette. For the full story ask me in person. I'm too lazy to type it up. For Christmas I acquired some brush pens (YES!) and a new Bose soundsystem (YES!) so I'm happy in that department. My birthday is coming up... again. Can't seem to escape it. I have 15 days left of this stupid semOester, which upsets me cos only a couple classes make it sucky. And when it's over I have to give up this awesome art class. Poo.
Oh well... I'll make it all up to myself by drawing a kickass portrait of Kurt Cobain.
It's hot.
For serious.
Other than all of that, I've been neglecting my poor bass (WOE IS ME) due to math homework (that reminds me...) and I've been feeling kind of depressed. It's one thing to keep me busy, it's another all together to keep me too busy to play music.
Now that just plain sucks.

What else... I've been going through a major book low. All the books I've been waiting for aren't coming out until later this year or next year.

School. That's my excuse.
It really is.
It's not like I come home everyday and have time to stare at a blog, constantly seeing in my endless sea of Firefox tabs. It's not like I spent all of yesterday after school playing my bass. It's not like I've been really *cough* busy lately and haven't swum to this end of the tabs.
It's not like that at all. *angelic smile*

Soo... onwards.
Last weekend was faboo. Friday I went to a rehearsal in the morning, and then to a friend's laser tag sleepover party. I pwned all these n00bs who thought they could play laser tag. Seriously. I was up in the sniper tower the whole time and people kept coming up and they were all like "Dude, get out of the tower!" And I'd be like, "Hellz no bitches!" and shoot them down.
It was great.
Then we went back to her place and we played Rockband for a total of 6 hours. And we slept for 5. Amazing.
Then I did volunteer crap. Then I went to this magnificent party where WE PLAYED LIVE AND IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!! There were like strobe lights and lasers and blacklights and a smoke machine and it got so smoky we eventually couldn't see each other so we missed some cues.
YAY!!!
Then the next day I did homework, a definite anti-climatic end to a very... climatic weekend.
I've been really happy all week, thinking of all the possibilities for the band... and learning some awesome songs.
So, in a roundabout way, I sort of did have a valid reason for not blogging for 2 weeks.

Ok, I'm going on hour 7 of writing this essay. Honestly, I really liked the book "To Kill A Mockingbird." Most people don't. But I actually liked it. What I don't like is this evil, soul-sucking essay. I have to pick a character, and analyze it. So I picked Dill. I thought it would be alright, just like any other essay. You know, sacrifice 3 hours of my life and work non-stop. Right? Wrong. I don't know what the hell it is, maybe my brain is officially fried, maybe I just really hate school, maybe I'm just really fed up with my stupid grade. Whatever it may be, it's pissing me off. I want to be free, and all my teachers are like, OH we can still squeeze in ONE MORE project or unit in these last 2 weeks. Greaaaaat. I just LOVE essays and projects and mathematical FUNCTIONS!! Mwahahaha! And so I return, still on the run from the police, and newly, the french Gendarmerie! Hooray!
After spending 500 Euros in France, I still managed to fit everything in my suitcase. That in itself is a miracle.
I'm also older than I should be. By about 9 hours. So 9 hours before my next birthday, I will already be that age. How confusing! Yay! :D
As it turns out, deoderized laundry bags do absolutely nothing to stop the smell of dirty laundry. In fact, they make the smell worse. This whole situation is lose-lose. It all sucks.

I have been extremely preoccupied and I haven't even been on my computer for a few days.
ME!! I haven't been on the computer. Right away, that shows that I've been busy.
Also, I'm uber swamped with homework this week, and I have about 3 huge things due within the next few days, so I feel stressed with those.
So here I am, A block. S'posed to be writing a resume... updating a blog instead. I'm wonderful.
What use is a resume anyway? It's only a piece of paper saying things that helps you get a job. Who needs a job? I have the Internet instead :D
So yesterday I did my math midterm. I was actually scared beforehand. I didn't really study because my two instincts, wanting to pass and not caring, were conflicting on astronomical levels. Yes, astronomical levels. But afterwards, I think I did good. I'm not worried about passing cos I know that's definitely happening. I might actually get an A. And if I do, that just might boost my 83% up to an A. So I'm pretty damn happy.
Also cos I got an awesome mark on something I failed last term. HAPPY!!! :D
Let's see... what else is new...
I'm leaving the country pretty soon. Yeah, I "accidentally" shot someone in the head, and I'm wanted on charges for first degree murder. So I'm off to France. But don't tell anyone. It's a secret. *shifty eyes*

I was sick.

So I went to school all week.
And my teachers decided to see just how much homework they could give us.

OMG TOMORROW'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!

There's some good news about my iPod. My dad managed to find an old iPod photo, which he gutted and stuck all the parts in mine. So now my special U2 iPod has a 30gb capacity, a colour screen and is named Optimus Prime.
Damn straight.
What kind of sucks today is that I have to do all this stuff for Planning and I have Math homework. I never said that last semester. Now I am. And I gotta tell you, Math homework sucks. It's so repetitive. Like, I know how to add exponents together. You don't have to give me 500 questions with different numbers.
Oh well. I guess I'll go humour the Math Department and just do it.

Well, it's Superbowl day. Meh. I guess if I was American it would mean more. All I know is that I have to watch a football game for 4 hours. And that it's American football. Canadian football has 3 downs, American has 4. How confusing.
But, alas, tis not the source of my sorrows.
No, you see, estranged Internet audience, these past few weeks, my beloved iPod has not been functioning properly. Then a couple of days ago, a little picture popped up on the screen. It was a picture of an iPod with X's for eyes and a sad face along with this address : www.apple.com/support/ipod. I feared the worst. I brought it to my dad this morning, who gave me the diagnosis. The hard-drive was shot. It died. )`:
So, we're looking for replacement parts. My dad says why don't we get a 4th generation 60gb hard-drive and a colour screen, like the 4th generation iPods, as mine is a 3rd. It looks as though that's what's going to happen.
Hopefully if things work out, I'll have a happy, custom, living iPod. Which should be good.
In other news, today is my last day of semester break. What's good is that last semester sucked butt monkeys. What's bad is that every single day this semester I have to be at school at 7:30 in the morning, when a regular day starts at 9:00 in the morning. But it's a good semester, so I'm content.
Also, I'm cleaning my room. It's amazing. This is an unimaginable feat, and I'm doing it.
I can actually see my floor. It's kind of ugly, but omg, I CAN ACTUALLY SEE MY FLOOR!

I HAVE NO MORE EXAMS THIS SEMESTER!! YAY-YEAH!
Here I am, playing with my new bass guitar, who I named Charlie, and I'm just chilling, listening to music. More specifically, Interpol. Omg. I'm addicted to their newest album, Our Love To Admire. It's amazing. Go buy it.
I had a Yop. It was raspberry flavoured. It was good.

So, I went out for lunch today, and I love the place, but this particular location was terrible. Their "large" was smaller than a small, and the person was really incompetent and stupid.
